Begonia Majolica Plate

Product Description

8 ½ Diam

Majolica held a position of prominence in Victorian home decor for decades.  Large and small potteries in England and later in the United States, produced majolica. By the 1870’s majolica was a household word and was in wide every day use on the dining table.  At the turn of the century trends and tastes changed, and majolica became unfashionable.  Majolica was unappreciated and ended up in the grandparents attic or basement.   A renaissance occurred in the seventies and eighties with the new appreciation of things Victorian. Majolica once again became fashionable and collectable.
